I remember a bit of my mother's advice when I was a boy: “It's better to be a live chicken than a dead duck.” Of course she was trying to help me avoid doing stupid things like jumping off a bridge because my friends wanted to. (I'm still working on it, Mom.) But how different is it when we go along with doing other foolish things because the people around us are doing them? Or perhaps saying unkind or negative things? Or maybe just getting into situations with degrading energy? Take the high ground. Seek out those who will support you being the best you can be. Even if that means being alone a little more than you might like. Lighten your vibration, and that will magnetize better friends. Take a look at some of the basic assumptions that guide your life. Have those assumptions come from people of true wisdom? Follow the best; follow the guidelines of spiritual teachers through the ages. Blessings on your journey, Timothy Gyandev has written an important new book! Spiritual Yoga Spiritual Yoga fills a gap left by most modern Yoga manuals, which leave out Yoga's higher dimensions: subtle energy control, meditation, and inner enlightenment. Order now. Your copy should ship later this month. Living with a Grateful Heart: A Thanksgiving Retreat November 27 - December 1, 2013 Holidays are a perfect time to recharge your body and refresh your spirit. A Touch of Light “... we need to relax all the mental energy committed to worrying or thinking about projects. I've found that if I determinedly let these little problems go, when I sit to meditate they will wait for me to finish.” Are you receiving the weekly blog postings from Nayaswamis Jyotish & Devi? Walking with William the Conqueror June 22 - July 3, 2014 Led by Catherine Kairavi, author of Two Souls, Four Lives and Richard Salva, author of Walking with William of Normandy, who says “When I heard that Yogananda had been William the Conqueror, I was fascinated. My wife and I traveled to Normandy to visit places made famous by William and Lanfranc. We were overwhelmed by the powerful blessings we experienced there. The pilgrimage was so meaningful to us that we repeated it two years later. I would like to share those blessings with you.” To Gmail Readers If you have Gmail, you probably already know that they changed the way we receive mail, making newsletters easily lost under the "Promotions" tab.
