During this 2-day program, you will learn techniques of yoga to improve your health in body, mind, and spirit. 

You will discover the healing power of posture, movement, energy flows, breath, self-talk, and focus.  You will gain important self-assessment and therapeutic techniques, and you’ll work with program leaders Maitri Jones and Sam McMillen to go deeper into how to apply what you've learned in your daily practice.

You’ll leave with a yoga routine designed to help you take your next step forward toward increased health and well-being.

Yoga therapy can be used for easing of symptoms, prevention of illness, and an improved sense of well-being. Yoga therapy works at deeper levels of being, where health challenges originate.

My experience with Maitri in the therapeutic yoga seminar was both wonderful and powerful. I went to Ananda with little/moderate experience in both yoga and meditation. Working closely alongside Maitri, I was able to lay a foundation for a physical/mental/spiritual transformation I couldn't find anywhere else. Maitri was able to offer me decades of knowledge and experience in teaching Ananda Yoga while being humble, patient, and very attentive. In a word, my time spent there really was invaluable. It was an incredible, life-changing experience. I left The Expanding Light feeling a level of consciousness, well-being, and optimism that I had never felt before. Slowly but surely, yoga and meditation have become a functional part of my everyday life that is extremely beneficial to my overall health, happiness, and success.

Maitri’s name means “Friend” in Sanskrit and well describes her extraordinarily kind and supportive nature. She directs our Ananda Yoga® Teacher Training Assistantship program, where she helps YTT grads take their teaching to the next level. She also helped pioneer our Ananda Yoga Therapy Training and is one of the primary instructors in that program. Maitri, brings great wisdom and experience to her many programs. Maitri is a certified Ananda Meditation and Yoga Teacher, as well as a registered nurse.

Therapeutic Yoga Retreat starts the afternoon of the first date listed and ends with lunch on the last date. It's ideal to arrive before 4 pm, if you are able to. That way, you can join in the afternoon session of guided yoga postures and meditation, which begins at 4:45. Dinner is at 6:30. The first real gathering of your group is after dinner. Please see:

If you need to arrive here after 5 pm, that’s fine, but it helps us if you let us know at 800-346-5350. We can also put aside a dinner for you if you need to arrive after 7 pm.
