The Promise of Immortality
A Special Retreat on the Occasion of Paramhansa Yogananda's Mahasamadhi

  • Mar 4 – 7, 2022

with Brahmachari Sagar

"This earth is a place of mirth, a pleasure house for immortals. Because we forget this and become identified with the earthly play, we suffer. We must remember that our real home is in the mansion of changeless, ever-new, blissful, omnipresent Immortality."

Paramhansa Yogananda

The promise that each one of us, in our soul nature, is immortal is at the heart of all true scriptures. Paramhansa Yogananda demonstrated the truth of this promise to the fullest degree not only through his life and teachings, but also through his Mahasamadhi (A Self-realized soul's final conscious exit from his body).
This special retreat, on the occasion of Yogananda's  Mahasamadhi, is designed to help you explore your true identity as an immortal soul.

Yogananda statue-badri meditation

Through a focused study of Yogananda's teachings and of several incidents from Yogananda's life and his passing, you will learn how you can embrace life's ever-changing, and sometimes challenging, experiences — relationships, business or job responsibilities, a changing social landscape, transitions of loved ones and more — from the changeless reality of your immortal soul nature.

Through classes, assignments, and group discussions you will learn practical methods to spiritualize life's experiences and transform them into springboards for spiritual growth and evolution.

Some of the highlights of this retreat are:

  • Three in-depth classes with discussions, techniques, and assignments that will help you bring the consciousness of changelessness and immortality into your daily life, and into life's many experiences and challenges
  • A kirtan with Paramhansa Yogananda's chants on the themes of divine power, eternity, and immortality
  • Daily guided meditations, yoga sadhanas, and a special community wide meditation celebrating Yogananda's Mahasamadhi
  • A special Mahasamadhi commemoration event led by Jyotish and Devi, spiritual directors of Ananda Worldwide, in the Temple of Light
  • Fellowship and sharing with fellow seekers and with longtime resident meditators at Ananda Village
