Golden Gravy Recipe
A good substitute for chicken or turkey gravy
– smooth and silky.


Makes: 2 cups
Cooking time: 20 minutes

In a sauce pan, toast until lightly brown (approximately 5-7 minutes), making sure not to burn:
    1/4 cup nutritional yeast
    1/4 cup garbanzo flour or unbleached white flour

Add and cook for 2 minutes, stirring frequently:
    3 tablespoons sesame oil
    3 tablespoons olive oil

Whisk in:
    2 cups vegetable stock or hot water

Add:
    1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
    1/4 cup tamari
    1 large clove garlic, peeled and minced
    1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
    1/2 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)

Simmer 5-10 minutes, stirring frequently.
