Kirtan Weekend
2-day weekend
Not Available at this time.
Kirtan—devotional chanting—is a way to open the heart, and deepen one’s love for God through singing to Him. Yogananda used to say, “Chanting is half the battle.” In other words, chanting helps us develop the love for God necessary to find Him.
Join with others who love to sing, and dive deeply into enriching the devotional aspect of your life.
Your weekend will be hosted by Panduranga and Gitabai Heater at The Expanding Light’s new Gaia House. Gaia House—spacious, uplifting, and at the same time warm and inviting—lends itself to creating a relaxed and familial atmosphere.
Your program will include time for group devotional chanting, as well as a very special experiential workshop with David Eby, Ananda’s music minister. He will show you how to bring more love, peace, and inspiration into your voice—techniques you will want to continue to practice after you leave.
Saturday afternoon, you’ll have in-depth workshops with talented musicians who have been trained in playing harmonium, tabla (drum), and guitar for Kirtans. Choose the instrument that most interests you. Please bring your own instrument from home if you have one.
Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning will be times to join together in joyful Kirtan.
Panduranga and Gitabai (J.T. and Colleen Heater), Ananda ministers, have long been involved in Ananda’s choir and Kirtan groups.
