Nayaswami Devarshi
Minister, Raja Yoga Teacher and Director of the Kriya Sangha
A long-time Ananda minister and Raja Yoga teacher, Devarshi is the head of the Ananda Kriya Sangha. He teaches the Kriya Yoga Programs (Preparation, and Initiation) at The Expanding Light and is willing to meet privately with guests who would like to explore the steps they should take to prepare for Kriya initiation. Having experienced the accelerated spiritual growth that comes from practicing Kriya Yoga, Yogananda's most advanced technique, Devarshi is now thrilled to be able to help others enter into this ancient yogic practice.
Devarshi has served the Ananda communities in Seattle, Washington and Assisi, Italy. He has taught throughout the United States, as well as in Italy and Moscow. Prior to joining the Kriya Sangha, Devarshi held a position on Swami Kriyananda's personal staff for seven years and recently served as Webmaster and creator of Ananda’s award-winning website. (If you haven't yet visited www.ananda.org, treat yourself to a look at the generous offerings!)
Devarshi says:
“I’ve always had a strong interest in deepening my own Kriya practice, and in helping others with their Kriya practice. Kriya is the most powerful and practical tool that exists for hastening our spiritual growth. I’ve seen this in my own life and in many, many others.”
“The life of an advanced Kriya Yogi is influenced, not by effects of past actions, but solely by directions from the soul. The devotee thus avoids the slow, evolutionary monitors of egoistic actions, good and bad, of common life, cumbrous and snail-like to the eagle hearts.”
– Paramhansa Yogananda in Autobiography of a Yogi
From a Kriyaban:
“I can not thank Devarshi enough for a truly remarkable experience. He was so welcoming and encouraging. I was not aware of the full impact of getting the higher Kriyas until I returned home and could feel the difference in the depth of my meditations. Doing the practices of Kriya Yoga and being on the path for the length of time I have, I was amazed at how much I gained and new insights I learned. Thank you for all that you and the community do to benefit our planet through living the example of peace and cooperation while sharing Yoganandas teachings.”
