Lately it feels like I've had plenty of reminders of challenges remaining on my path. As I work to move forward I'm guided by words from The Essence of the Bhagavad Gita. These include: “Since the ego is a delusion, anything that tempts it to affirm its own separate reality is a delusion also. And so too, indeed, is any distress one may feel with oneself for having succumbed to delusion.” It's a good thing we have the great ones to guide us. Rather than saying, “I've failed,” I affirm that “I have not yet succeeded.” I give my errors to God, as we have been taught. And try to not identify myself with my shortcomings. I am also forever grateful for the good souls with whom I interact daily. Without them, there would be even more examples of my “not yet succeeding!” Put yourself in good company. Blessings on your path, Timothy Groundbreaking for Swami Kriyananda's Moksha Mandir with Jyotish and Devi May 16 – 18 The weekend will include a sacred ceremony at the site, with the colony leaders–from India (Dhyana and Jaya), from Italy (Kirtani and Anand), from Seattle (Hriman and Padma), from Portland (Daiva and Gangamata), from Sacramento (Dharmadas and Nirmala), from Palo Alto (David and Asha), from Los Angeles (Narayan and Dharmadevi)– each offering some part of the ceremony. Practical Ayurveda for Self-Healing April 23 – 27 Understand your Ayurvedic constitution and how to work with it to help feel your best. Led by Nayaswami Mangala Inspiration from The Bhagavad Gita Mistakes on the path are always possible. The devotee should acknowledge them sincerely and openly (at least to himself), and then simply forsake them. He should avoid the further mistake of becoming upset with himself. From The Essence of the Bhagavad Gita, Achieving Inner Peace and Tranquility, Part 2 April 25 – 27 Learn how to permanently change stuck habits, over-reactions, and negative responses—continuing on to the goal of inner peace and lasting happiness. Led by Nayaswami Mantradevi More inspiration from The Bhagavad Gita Only when we have banished from our consciousness the delusions that keep us bound to this phenomenal world can we know ourselves truly equal, in God, to the very angels. “My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” People rarely see that the greatness of God's ways, as expressed through the lives of His awakened sons, lies in a transcendent view of mundane realities, and not in a rigid denial of these realities. From the thought, “Nothing is divine,” man must grow to the realization “Everything is divine.” From The Essence of the Bhagavad Gita, How to Rise Above Your Karma: Use your life experiences to empower yourself April 29 – May 1 When you understand karma and can see your karmic patterns and lessons, you become more at ease with yourself and with your own journey. You are more able to calmly navigate the roads that lie ahead, and to find peace with your past. Led by Nayaswami Anandi Lessons in Cooperative Community April 9 – 13 & May 22 – 25 Apply the lessons of cooperative community in your life.
