Dazzle the World

“You must not let your life run in the ordinary way; do something that nobody else has done, something that will dazzle the world. Show that God’s creative principle works in you.”
― Paramhansa Yogananda

When I first heard this quote from Yogananda some 6 years ago, I was lying on the floor of the temple during a Restorative Yoga evening. The teacher repeated it gently as I lay in a deep state of inward and outer surrender. It felt like a ray of light entering my heart and gently touching me, and there seemed to be some background voice saying , “this is possible for you, Lalaan.”

I don’t feel that in this lifetime so far I’ve done something that no one else has done, and mostly I am the one dazzled by Life and awestruck with moments of extraordinariness – a dawn bird song, the moonrise and stars, the scent of lilies, remembering pilgrimage, the laughter of a dear friend. So, I keep my heart open and offer the act of dazzling out to the universe and remain present for God’s creative principle to flow through me, someday, in some way, in service to others.
