Peace and Harmony Prayer

“My fellow teacher is asking me to do her work and then complaining to co-workers that I’m to blame for her problems. I am so angry at her that I can’t sleep, I can’t even acknowledge her presence when I see her.” After Teresa, a teacher and one of the kindest people you could meet, shared her frustration with me, I suggested she try the Peace and Harmony prayer. This is the prayer we will introduce at the Plug into Joy with Autobiography of Yogi events in Reno, NV, June 17 and 18.

A couple of weeks later Teresa described her experience with the prayer: “First, my body relaxed and I began to sleep normally again; then, I was able to say a friendly ‘hello’ to my co-worker; later, I saw her treating the students with more respect than she had before; finally, we found ourselves in a prayer group at school and have become supportive friends.”

I have heard many such remarkable responses to the simple prayer we will be sharing at these events. This prayer, given by Paramhansa Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi, was initially created to help transform everyday frictions between people.

Many of my fellow residents at Ananda Village, as well as many with whom we’ve shared the prayer, have had almost instantaneous, positive—sometimes miraculous—results from this prayer.

We see much turmoil in our world, nationally and internationally. We see competition and greed separating people and nations, and endangering the health of the planet. Having used Yogananda’s teachings to discover tremendous peace and happiness in our own lives, we at Ananda wanted to share this gift with the world.

We adjusted a few words of Yogananda’s prayer, to focus it on sending peace and harmony into this world, and now, there’s an app for that! The app helps you remember the prayer and counts all our prayers for peace and harmony worldwide. Join in and make it a million prayers!

The world is a big place, and we are a small group of people. Still, we believe even a small group, focusing together on sharing positive, harmonious vibrations, can affect others around them.

We invite you to join us in praying for world peace and harmony with your friends and family. If you’re in the Reno, NV area, please join us for the Plug into Joy events. You’ll find more information at www.ananda.org/events
