Bridge to Ananda Yoga
Enter Ananda’s Level 2 (500-hour) YTT track

Many teachers of other styles want to transfer into Ananda’s Level 2 certification track or into Yoga Therapist Training — once they experience the power of Ananda Yoga. If you are a Yoga Alliance RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher), you may do that, upon completing the Bridge to Ananda Yoga course, which will help you become grounded in the practice and teaching of Ananda Yoga. Bridge to Ananda Yoga has two components:

Part 1—In-Person Study

You can choose among 3 options for completing Part 1:

  1. Attend a 3-day weekend retreat called The Deeper Practice of Yoga, in which the Ananda Yoga Teacher Training faculty will guide you in exploring various aspects of the practice of Ananda Yoga, including asanas, asana affirmations, pranayama, meditation, and the Energization Exercises of Paramhansa Yogananda.
  2. Attend the first 4 days (Sunday evening through Thursday morning) of Ananda’s Level 1 Yoga Teacher Training, which is offered four times per year (see costs).
  3. Attend the Yoga Teacher Renewal retreat.

If you attend one of these three options, please notify us at least 3 weeks prior to your arrival that you plan to take Part 2. Then we will be able to give you the Part 2 course materials before you return home. Otherwise, there may be additional shipping charges.

There is a fourth option that will substitute for both Part 1 and Part 2: Take the first 2 weeks of Level 1 (200-hour) Ananda Yoga Teacher Training. We feel that this option gives the best training of all the options; if you have the time and resources, please consider it. Partial scholarships may be available.

Part 2—At-Home Study

You will receive in-depth course texts plus special online access to Ananda Yoga videos and other materials. Your at-home course of study will consist of:

  • Regular reading and written assignments, for which you’ll receive personalized feedback.
  • Personal practice of the Ananda Yoga techniques
  • A series of webinars (online seminars) with Ananda YTT faculty to deepen your understanding of a variety of aspects of the Ananda tradition, including how to practice and teach Ananda Yoga.
  • Practice-teaching at least two classes in the Ananda Yoga style (later in the course).

Part 2 requires participation in online discussions and collaboration with other students. You will need to be online regularly—not necessarily every day, but often. This course requires that you stay current with all assignments. You will need a computer with a web connection that is fast enough to watch video, plus a headset with microphone.

The 2012 offering of Part 2 will begin with a webinar on September 5 in the late afternoon/early evening (Pacific time). It ends in early February 2013. The cost is $325.

You need to satisfactorily complete Step 2 before taking the AYTT Assistantship (one of the required Level 2 courses). However, you may take any other Level 2 course (if you meet its prerequisites) anytime after completing Part 1.

Please note: Bridge to Ananda Yoga does not result in Ananda Level 1 certification, nor does it enable you to advertise that you are teaching Ananda Yoga. Your first Ananda certification comes with completing the Level 2 training.
