Bridge to Ananda Yoga

Many teachers of other styles want to transfer into Ananda’s Level 2 certification track— once they experience the power of Ananda Yoga. If you are a Yoga Alliance RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher), you may do that, upon completing the Bridge to Ananda Yoga course, which will help you become grounded in the practice and teaching of Ananda Yoga. Bridge to Ananda Yoga has two components:

Part 1—In-Person Study

You first attend a 3-day weekend retreat called The Deeper Practice of Yoga, in which the Ananda Yoga Teacher Training faculty will guide you in exploring various aspects of the practice of Ananda Yoga, including asanas, asana affirmations, pranayama, meditation, and the Energization Exercises of Paramhansa Yogananda.

Part 2—At-Home Study

You will receive in-depth reading materials plus special online access to Ananda Yoga practice videos. Your at-home course of study will consist of:

  • Reading and written assignments, for which you’ll receive personalized feedback
  • Personal practice of the Ananda Yoga techniques
  • Five webinars (online seminars—you will need a computer) with Ananda YTT faculty to deepen your understanding of how to practice and teach Ananda Yoga
  • Practice-teaching at least two classes in the Ananda Yoga style, with a personal teleconference with Ananda YTT faculty to discuss and refine your teaching skills

You need to satisfactorily complete Step 2 before taking the AYTT Assistantship (one of the required Level 2 courses). However, you may take any other Level 2 course (if you meet its prerequisites) anytime after completing Part 1. Part 2 is spread over 5 months, and it costs $325.

Please note: Bridge to Ananda Yoga does not result in Ananda Level 1 certification, nor does it enable you to advertise that you are teaching Ananda Yoga. Your first Ananda certification comes with completing the Level 2 training.
