Do you feel you’re losing flexibility with age? This is an ideal class for you!
As you lose flexibility, you’re more likely to injure yourself during everyday activities, as well as to feel less energetic, and a desire to be more sedentary. Loss of flexibility can also mean poorer balance, as well as stress and overall tightness, lower back pain, shoulder tightness, and headaches.
This course will give you the encouragement and training to do yoga postures appropriate for your situation: ones that will help you become more flexible, and be suited to your current constitution. You will learn:
- Exercises that can be done in a chair
- How to modify postures to suit them to your own body, taking into account any injuries, physical weakness, or stiffness you currently have
- Proper alignment for each of the poses, and ways to improve your alignment in what you are currently doing
- Exercises especially helpful for the lower back
- Breathing exercises to improve relaxation and increase endurance.
Uddhava Ramsden has taught Ananda Yoga® since 1996, with a special love for “extra-gentle yoga” and yoga for those with special physical needs. He will give each class member a yoga routine you can take home, one suited to your particular needs.
Prices are all-inclusive and cover accommodations, meals, classes or activities, and course materials.
Flexibility Past 50 starts the afternoon of the first date listed. It’s ideal to arrive before 4 pm, if you are able to. That way, you can join in the afternoon session of yoga and meditation, which begins at 4:45 pm. Dinner is at 6:30. The first real gathering of your group is at 7:30 pm. If you need to arrive here after 5 pm, that’s fine, but it helps us if you let us know at 800-346-5350. We can also put aside a dinner for you if you need to arrive after 7 pm.
