Preparation for Pilgrim Vow Retreat and Vow Ceremony
A Weekend of Spiritual Renewal and Rededication
3-day weekend
- Not Available at this time
Do you want to make a deeper spiritual commitment in your life? A commitment between your soul and God, without religious affiliation? A commitment that says, “I want to dedicate my life more deeply to my own spiritual quest.”
Swami Kriyananda, a direct disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda for over 60 years, has launched a new movement in renunciation, called the Nayaswami Order—literally: the “new” swami order.
The order is based on renouncing the ego rather than renouncing the world, and is intended for people everywhere, including married couples, who are committed to finding God. It is not tied to Ananda. Kriyananda describes it as a “non-institutional” approach to renunciation.
This new approach to renunciation concentrates not on what we want to overcome, but rather on what we want to become. The vows are designed to reinforce the realization of our divine nature as bliss.
The vow offered to you if you want to take this step is:
The Pilgrim Vow
I understand, and intend from now on to live by my understanding, that life is a pilgrimage, of which the final goal is to find and merge back into God.
I will endeavor resolutely, therefore, to direct all my thoughts and actions toward that end.
I will offer up all material desires for purification in the fire of divine bliss.
I will offer up all attachments for purification in that cosmic fire.
I will search my heart daily for any lingering desires and attachments, and will offer them to Thee, my Cosmic Beloved.
I will strive to be an example to others of a pure, discriminating, and noble life.
I will offer the fruit of all my actions and labors to Thee alone.
Bless me, and direct my footsteps ever to the summit of Thy holy mountain.
The vow is imbued with divine power, and will strengthen you spiritually to the degree that you tune into it. It is open to all who seek sincerely to dedicate their lives more deeply to God. The vow itself will be offered on Sunday evening September 12.
