Since the founding of Ananda Village in the late 60's, Ananda has operated a non-profit guest retreat. Those who have visited The Expanding Light Retreat know what an extraordinary campus we have. The buildings are beautiful and functional.

Our wonderful Guest Services Building was constructed in 2000. It houses our reception area including staff offices, a sweet guest lounge and our ever-popular Boutique. At that time the original buildings - housing our dining room and kitchen, the Temple, and more staff offices - also got a new face and decking so that they would match the new building. The lovely and practical piazza was built between the two.

This construction required a huge loan. We are paying for that loan each month. This makes it very difficult for us to cover all of our monthly costs, and to grow in the many ways we wish - so that we can better serve more people.

The Expanding Light Retreat serves close to 1800 overnight guests each year and many more join us for events. It is a joy beyond measure for all of us who serve here to support these great souls. Seeing the worries lift, and the light fill our guests' faces during their stay is a blessing for which we are grateful every day.
