Spiritual Renewal Week Annual Bicycle Ride

Coming again in 2010

Ananda Om Biker

Join us as we ride through the Sierra Nevada foothills to celebrate the joyous occasion of Spiritual Renewal Week.

The ride starts at Ananda Village on August 8, the Saturday before Spiritual Renewal Week, with three route options: 66 miles, 25 miles, and a short ride around the Village on paved roads. This is a free event – the only associated cost is food you purchase along the route. Note that this is a self-supported event and there won't be SAG wagons. The 25-mile option requires you drive your car to the starting point, 20 miles from Ananda Village.

Contact the Expanding Light for accommodations.

66-mile riders will meet at the Village Center at 8:15 a.m. and leave at 8:30 a.m. sharp.

25-mile riders will meet at the Village Center at 9:10 a.m. to load bikes and carpool to the starting point, leaving at 9:30 a.m.. The 20 mile drive will take about 40 minutes. Once you’ve made the 4 mile descent and have crossed the N. Yuba River, use any pull-out on Hwy 49 between the bridge and the Carlton Campground, the first campground after the bridge. The 66-mile riders will meet there to join the other riders.

New option - shorter ride around the Village. For all you novice riders wishing to ride only on the roads of Ananda Village, Gitabai Heater will lead a ride up to an hour on paved roads in the Village. Meet at 9:15 at the market and ride as long as you wish, up to an hour. Afterwards, Gitabai will take anyone interested to Oregon Creek for a swim!
