July 4th at Ananda Village, Celebrating World Brotherhood Colonies

Over 40 years ago, on July 4, 1969, Ananda officially took over the land that has become Ananda Village, the first long-lasting example of a “world brotherhood colony” as Yogananda envisioned.

This year, Swami Kriyananda joins us to celebrate, and he will give the Saturday morning class and the Sunday Service. The schedule of the main classes and activities are listed here:

Thursday, July 1
7:45 pm	Welcome and orientation with Nayaswamis Jyotish and Devi
Friday, July 2
10:30–Noon	“Community Life as a Way to Spiritual Freedom” with Jyotish, Devi, and Ananta
2–4 pm	Quiet time in Crystal Hermitage gardens and Shrine of the Masters for reflection and meditating with relics of the Masters
7:45-9:15 pm	Kirtan: devotional chanting
Saturday, July 3
10:30–Noon	“Spiritual Communities: Vision of Possibilities for World Harmony” with Swami Kriyananda
2:00-4	Meet in Temple for overview of new developments in Ananda Village, followed by tours: • Walking tour of new Living Wisdom Center and School campus • Walking tour of food production gardens and animals • Walking tour of community housing • Driving overview of the Village (School campus, food production, and housing)
2:00	Crystal Hermitage Gardens and Shrine of the Masters open for quiet reflection and enjoyment.
7:45	Concert of music written by Swami Kriyananda
Sunday, July 4
10:00	Purification Ceremony
11:00	Sunday Service with Swami Kriyananda
For those able to stay for an additional night (see the price at right for one night of Personal Retreat):
4 pm	Parade, games, contra dancing, volleyball in the Village Green near the Market
6:30	Picnic dinner at the Market

In addition, you will enjoy morning practices of Energization Exercises, yoga postures, and meditation, as well as delicious vegetarian food throughout the weekend.

Prices are all-inclusive and cover accommodations, meals, classes or activities, and course materials.

July 4th at Ananda Village - Celebrating World Brotherhood Colonies starts the afternoon of the first date listed. It’s ideal to arrive before 4 pm, if you are able to. That way, you can join in the afternoon session of yoga and meditation, which begins at 4:45 pm. Dinner is at 6:30. The first real gathering of your group is at 7:30 pm. If you need to arrive here after 5 pm, that’s fine, but it helps us if you let us know at 800-346-5350. We can also put aside a dinner for you if you need to arrive after 7 pm.
