Zen Shiatsu
Much Good To You
Zen Shiatsu is a physical technique of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TMC), which is based on the energy circulation system in the human body, which is similar to the blood circulation system. This energy system is composed of twelve energy pathways, or meridians. All illness is said to be created by imbalances in these meridians. Zen Shiatsu employs gentle pressure to physically release blocks and move energy in the meridians so that balance can be restored.
Zen shiatsu is practiced on a futon on the floor. The client, who remains fully clothed, is gently placed in five positions during the treatment: sitting upright, lying on the left side, lying on the right side, lying on the back, and lying on the stomach.
The practitioner applies light to deep pressure along the meridians of the body in a rhythmic, flowing pattern, using his thumbs, fingers, and palms. Each part of the body, from head to toe, systematically massaged. A full-body Zen Shiatsu treatment lasts 1 and 1/2 hours. Hour long sessions are also available.
As the Zen shiatsu practitioner places pressure on the meridians, tension and fatigue in the surrounding muscles are released, resulting in a pleasant physical relaxation. Through the restoration of proper energy flow in the meridians, clients feel physically and mentally recharged and rejuvenated. The rhythmic, almost meditative flow of the treatment brings peace to the mind and spirit.
"Zen Shiatsu is such a treat. I feel alive again. Thank you so very much."
