Sierra Cycling
With a Twist of Yoga
3-day weekend
- with optional extension (*)
- Coming again in 2012
Spend an amazing weekend cycling amidst beautiful scenery, combined with yoga and meditation, relaxation, great food, and camaraderie. Hosted by experienced cyclists and yogis at The Expanding Light, northern California’s premier yoga and meditation retreat.
Sierra Cycling is for road bikers that cycle on a regular basis and enjoy riding in hilly terrain. During this 3-day workshop you will:
- Integrate Spirit and Nature as you ride, meditate, and practice yoga with a group dedicated to doing the same.
- Rediscover (or discover) the Joy of riding—ride with Spirit!
- Experience some of the most beautiful riding in the world—canyons, long climbs, beautiful descents, rolling scenery—the Sierra Nevada Foothills have it all!
Weekend rides include an intermediate ride in the surrounding areas (15-20 miles), and a more challenging, longer ride of up to 65 miles or more through the foothills.
The weekend includes a yoga class focusing on remedying common postural imbalances experienced by cyclists, as well as a class on how to meditate. Experience Ananda Yoga® applied to Cycling! The weekend is loosely structured, and you are free to attend all activities or skip some in order to have more time to relax, unwind, and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the area.
The first gathering is Thursday evening after dinner, and the weekend concludes after lunch on Sunday.
(*) Optional Extension - If you are interested in riding more, you are welcome to arrive earlier or leave later than the program dates. Let us know and we will schedule additional rides. Simply book a personal retreat and add as many days as you'd like, preceding or following the Sierra Cycling weekend.
The weekend is hosted by Ananda’s cycling club: Dr. Craig Roberts DC, Bob Stolzman, Koral Ilgun and Panduranga (J.T.) Heater.

Sierra Cycling starts the afternoon of the first date listed. It’s ideal to arrive before 4 pm, if you are able to. That way, you can join in the afternoon session of yoga and meditation, which begins at 4:45 pm. Dinner is at 6:30. The first real gathering of your group is at 7:30 pm. If you need to arrive here after 5 pm, that’s fine, but it helps us if you let us know at 800-346-5350. We can also put aside a dinner for you if you need to arrive after 7 pm. The program ends with lunch on the last date. Please see our Daily Schedule.
